How Sales Work

Sales in Sumung follow a simple lifecycle: an invoice is created, finalized, sent to the customer, and tracked until it's paid.

Invoice Lifecycle

  • Draft - the invoice is being prepared and has not yet been finalized.
  • Approved - the invoice has been finalized internally (revenue recorded) but may not yet have been emailed to the customer.
  • Sent - the invoice has been emailed (or marked as sent) to the customer.
  • Paid / Partially Paid - payment has been recorded against the invoice, in full or in part.
  • Overdue - the invoice's due date has passed without full payment.

Steps

In practice, most sales follow this path:

  1. Create or select a customer.
  2. Create an invoice (Draft).
  3. Finalize it with Approve or Save & Send.
  4. Track its status (Approved/Sent/Paid/Partially Paid/Overdue) from the Invoices list.
  5. Record payment as it's received.
