What Is the Difference Between Bills and Receipts in Sumung

Sumung's purchasing tools center on two record types: Bills and Receipts. There is no separate "Purchase Order" record, and no standalone "Expense" record…

Steps

Quick summary:

  • Bill - money owed to a vendor for goods or services, tracked through Draft, Approved, Paid, Partially Paid, and Overdue statuses, with payments recorded against it.
  • Receipt - a record of spending (often uploaded from a physical or emailed receipt), categorized and optionally linked to a bank transaction.

Use a bill when a vendor has invoiced you and you'll pay them over time. Use a receipt to capture and categorize a purchase, especially one already paid for by card or cash.

Good to Know

A field labeled "P.O./S.O." exists on the bill form as a free-text reference, but there is no dedicated Purchase Order record or workflow in Sumung.
