How Are Outstanding Balances Calculated

"You Owe" and "They Owe" are running totals based on unpaid invoices and bills linked to that contact - they update automatically as transactions are recorded…

Steps

  1. "They Owe" reflects unpaid invoices you've sent to that contact as a customer.
  2. "You Owe" reflects unpaid bills you've recorded against that contact as a supplier.
  3. Recording a payment against an invoice or bill reduces the corresponding balance.
  4. "Total Outstanding" and "Pending Payables" at the bottom of the Contacts page sum these balances across all contacts.
