How Do I Create a New Journal Entry

A journal entry lets you record a manual accounting transaction directly, with at least two balanced line items. Go to Finances → Journal Entries and click…

Steps

  1. Go to Finances → Journal Entries and click "New journal entry."
  2. Set the Date and enter a Description (Reference is auto-generated).
  3. In the Line Items table, select an Account for each line and enter a Debit or Credit amount.
  4. Click "Add Line" if you need more than the two starting rows.
  5. Check the Journal Summary panel - it shows "Balanced" once total debits equal total credits.
  6. Optionally add Internal Notes or Attachments.
  7. Click "Save as Draft" to keep working on it, or "Save and Post" to finalize.
